A day in Paris

I met fellow photographer Lesley last year soon after she and Mister moved to The Netherlands.  Chatting over coffee in Breda we instantly connected. She’s one of the people who gets it and I feel blessed to call her my friend.

Paris is where she and her Mister love to be. Their travels have led them here many times, and each time they felt this sense of belonging.

In January I had the privilege of photographing them in this city they love so much.

Here’s to finding that special place in the world! And to Lesley and Mister:  You’re fab…the end.

Have an amazing Easter!

BIG Workshop – Bridal shoot

Last week I had the  pleasure of co-hosting the very first BIG workshop together with amazing photographers Damon Pijlman and Frans Nijssen.

A two-day wedding photography workshop in a gorgeous castle in the Dutch city of Wassenaar.

The concept of BIG is new and real and consists of 1 shooting day and one business and marketing day. Two information-packed days for our workshop participants.

On day 1 we photograph a wedding day from start to finish. We work with a newlywed couple – no professional models. It’s the real deal from start to finish. We explain our approach to wedding photography and our different styles of photography. We look for available light and teach off-camera flash techniques throughout the day. Day two is a day dedicated to business and marketing, with in depth information about how we calculate our wedding photography pricing and why it works. We also cover marketing and social media, blogging and contests. To finish it all up every participant gets a complete portfolio review of his or her website.

We are overwhelmed by the response to the BIG workshop. The participants have blown us away with their talent and enthousiasm.  This has inspired us to start planning a second BIG workshop in the fall. If you would like to be informed of the next BIG workshop, please leave your email address. You will be the first to know! Promise.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Damon for asking me to join him on this venture. D, you’re an inspiration to us all! To Frans, I’m so happy that you shared your wisdom and talent with us all!

Marion, your gorgeousness! We are so grateful that you and Gijs were there to model for us. Not only are you a stunning couple, you’re incredibly sweet and patient! You both did an amazing job in very cold conditions! <3

And last but not least… to our amazing participants. We couldn’t have wished for a more enthousiastic and warm group! We look forward to seeing how you all grow your photography!

It’s with a warm heart that I leave you with these images from the bridal shoot. The images from the couple shoot will follow shortly.

Kids in Trees

If I told you these were taken in November you probably wouldn’t believe it. We lucked out on the weather for sure.  I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this family a number of times now, and every time is a pleasure. You may remember mom and dad’s stolen moments.

So here’s one for the 4 lovelies.

Baby it’s cold outside

Some of you may remember Wendy and Kris from the gorgeous destination wedding in Italy back in May. They contacted me for a wintery shoot with their two little girls. It’s always a joy to photograph this family.

And so it was on a cold and early December morning that we met for an outdoors shoot.  This winter hadn’t given us any snow so far, so we chose a white palette to add a wintery feel to the shoot. Early morning may very well be my favorite time of the day.  I absolutely loved the warm and gorgeous light we got that morning. Within just 50 minutes we wrapped up an amazing series of beautiful images.

Much love,

T

Oh Christmas Tree

It’s December 23. Lille Juleaften for the norwegians. The day on which the tree is decorated and the lights are lit. Here in our family, we get a Christmas tree soon after Sinterklaas. Being braught up in a family with a norwegian mother, I must admit I’m much more into Christmas than Sinterklaas. So in December, we bring a little magic into our house.

Every year people ask me what colours I will be “doing” my Christmas tree in. The answer is simple: red.  I love a traditional tree with white lights and red ornaments.

I’m sharing a few details of our Christmas home.

Ka’s Christmas Shoot

My friend Kristina has a nack for finding the funniest, most amazing outfits and props on Etsy. Every year, we do a Christmas shoot… which cracks us up every single time! We think we’re pretty hilarious… we get the same jokes, laugh out loud when we’re not really supposed to and oh well… you had to be there.

In a way, this has become our little tradition. A fun start to the festive season!

Ka, it’s with much love that I post this! Merry Christmas to you, your man and Bailey (the immensely patient golden retriever).

XOXO

A Loveshoot in Antwerp

On a beach on a remote island in Fiji, Sjoerd proposed to Diana. He took out the engagement ring he had brought with him from home, got on one knee and asked her to be his wife.

Ah the romance!

So it was on gorgeous fall Friday in November, that I welcomed Sjoerd and Diana for a lovely day of shooting, getting to know eachother and having lunch and coffees in the heart of Antwerp.

Diana and Sjoerd, you are such lovely people and you have an amazing energy together. I can’t wait to shoot your wedding at Finley next April!

Fondly,

Tanja

Stolen moments

Four kids, nine years of marriage… Life is fast and time can sometimes seem to slip away. During a session in November, I caught Katrien and Jan in a special moment. And it was just about the two of them. And I was blessed to be there to capture it.

These two are an amazing reminder that no matter how many kids you have, and how hectic things get,  it’s important to be a couple.

More from the session with the kids later, but for now, I leave you with some beloved moments of this couple.

So here’s to them – and date nights.

xoxo,

T

Paris workshop Part 2

Second leg of the workshop with the über-talented Fer Juaristi. This Mexican photographer is awesome. Guys like him are changing the face of wedding photography every single day. His work is remarkable.

As I went through the images from last summer, I couldn’t help but post a few from that fun afternoon with the Mexican talent. It is with much fondness for the guy that I look back on that afternoon in Paris.

These gorgeous people were married only three weeks after the workshop! Enjoy the images.

Pauline

I adore babies. And I love working with first time parents. Welcoming a baby into your life is rewarding and daunting at the same time. Forget all the things you thought you knew as soon as the little person arrives!

When two become three, life seems to shift into high gear and time goes by to fast. I love capturing the moments between a couple and their first baby, and give them the images to cherish for life.

At 10 months baby adorable baby Pauline was a dream. She was totally into it!

I’m sharing some of the images from her session with her lovely mom and dad.

Happy Birthday Lisa!

She was our little surpise. Today is exactly four years since she was born at home, straight into our home, our heart, our lives ! Our little bundle of joy!

Lisa is funny, passionate, LOUD, talented and intelligent!  I see so much of myself in her. I love her with all my heart! I could never imagine life without you our sweet Lisa Amalia! She blows me away every day.

Lisa loves her binky and blanky… And I love how she plays with her hair when she gets tired.

We love you Lisa. Happy 4th birthday, baby! Please keep surprising us.

xoxo

And here’s our little song… I improvised my own lyrics when you were born: “Lisa, Lisa, Lisa – Du må ikke gråte… ”

Paris workshop Part 1

When I saw Fer Juaristi‘s tweet way back in March about his Paris workshop, I didn’t hesitate. Fer is a fantastic wedding photographer with a unique eye. This workshop turned out to be a joint effort with his fellow-wedrocker David Josué. A double treat!

The only thing I wasn’t too keen about was going to Paris by myself. So I was very delighted to have my good friend Damon join me!

Both Damon and I had a great time during the workshop. I can’t believe all the talented photographers who were there. We have since kept in touch and I am in awe of their talent – seriously!

Sarah and Olivier were married only 1 month before we photographed them in Paris. Be sure to check out their amazing wedding by Emily on Amypunky’s blog.

So without further ado… Here’s some shots from the first part of that day with newlyweds Sarah and Olivier.

Waiting for Baby

The lovely Sofie and Ben are waiting for baby… Their little miracle is due in a few weeks time.

We met just before sunset in the Kalmthoutse Heide a few weeks ago for a shoot.  I loved this shoot so much! Both Ben and Sofie were a total delight to work with!  Their baby is blessed to have such loving parents.

The sad thing is that a bushfire hit this beautiul nature reserve while I was in Italy. De zwangerschapsfotografie met Sofie en Ben aan de Heide in Kalmthout.

Two Sisters

Our neighbours have two sweet granddaughters. And I got to shoot them last week. These girls were very shy to begin with, but they soon warmed up to my lens – and me.

Enjoy the images!

Loveshoot in the dunes

The weather was so beautiful that day.  Awesome luck… but it also meant a beached packed with people.

So I opted to shoot Claire and Koen in the dunes instead of the beach… Claire and Koen adopted twin boys in January. These two gorgeous babies joined mom and dad for their shoot!

Dear Claire and Koen, I can’t wait to shoot your wedding next month!

See you soon, T

A smile on my face

When Sandra booked me I was totally happy! Her son Yves is in my son’s class and is doing his first communion. For this occasion, they wanted some images of him and his little sister Manon.  Since I know these kids, they were very relaxed in front of the camera. No shying away here… The kids played and did their thing, while I got to capture the moments.  I ‘m so happy with all the awesome spots we have around here – these were taken a short drive from where we live.

A big thanks to Sandra for being amazing about meeting so late in the evening on a school night!  You guys are a true joy to photograph! Not only are you a stunning family, you were fun and great to be with!

Much love, T

To the Beach!

It was the first day of the Easter break here in Belgium.  The weather was chilly but sunny. I headed to the dutch North Sea coast to shoot this wonderful family. Over the past two years I’ve had the privilege of photographing these three wonderful kids!

Hope you enjoy the shots we got!

Fondly, T

Hailey!

Hailey’s young, creative and bubbly!!!  She’s a young Scottish photographer who I met at Zach and Jody Gray’s workshop earlier this year. We’ve since stayed in touch on Facebook and Twitter.

Imagine my delight when she emailed me asking if I would photograph her for her new website.  She flew in especially for the day. It was totally awesome!

Hails, keep it up. Use your gift wisely and you will go far!  You have a friend on “the continent” ;-)
Hailey is at Clockwork Photography.

Big hug, T

Destination Norway

It’s where I recharge my batteries and regroup my thoughts.   Norway is where the heart is.

I love what I do and love doing it in different countries meeting new people.  That is why this year I hope to do some sessions and maybe even a wedding in Norway during the month of July.  So… if you’re interested, or know anyone who is, spread the word and contact me!

I’m excited about this! Hope you are too!

Oh and I’m excited about corona strawberries too… they are a very important part of our summer! Sorry belgian strawberries. Yes you are early, but there’s nothing on like norwegian corona’s – so sorry.

Much love,

T

The photographers

Wedding photographer Anouschka from Lifestyle Fotografie asked me photograph her and het husband Ray. They came all the way from Boskoop in The Netherlands for their photoshoot, equipped with cameras, Shootsacs, sunglasses and killer heels!  Indy and Keira – their beloved terriers – were groomed and ready for their closeup!

Anouschka is a  fellow member of photographers collective weloveweddings.nl.

The girl next door

I was delighted to shoot her the ‘girl next door’.

Helen is our neighbour.  Not only is she beautiful on the outside, she is a true and genuinly good girl.  I love talking with her about stuff, school, friends and the things that go on in a twelve-year-old girl’s life….  She patiently plays with our girls, indulging their wishes and silly role-playing games.

So it was more than a pleasure to portrait this very special young lady for her special occasion.

Much love,
T
